Las Americas Apartments
Where are we in the schedule?
We are nearing completion, 85% done.
What are our current activities at Las Americas?
Currently we are completing the STF/Curtainwall, lobby roof, and working our way into the lobby.
What are the challenges?
We have had many challenges throughout the project, our most recent challenge is the STF/Curtainwall/canopy detail. Its new to us so tying in the glazing and framing to the structure while keeping the integrity of the thermal break created by the isokorb has required thinking outside the box.
What are we doing really well?
Staying on top of all the change orders that come in.
the black house at northwestern university

Rounding the corner with a substantial completion date at the end of April.
What are our current activities at the The Black House?
Drywall ceiling, installing elevator, completing turret/siding repairs, fire loop connection, repair and refinish existing windows and fabrication of steel rear deck.
What are the challenges?
Some of the biggest challenges on this project are the unforeseen conditions discovered everyday. Very fun and interesting project to be apart of.
What are we doing really well?
GMA is going a good job suppressing construction noise for neighboring buildings. GMA is going working hard to ensure safe jobsite for student/faculty foot traffic.
Schiller Place Apartments
Where are we in the schedule?
We are at 15% completed. Building One foundations poured with half the building backfilled and mason installing elevator core. Starting structural framing 1st/2nd week of April. Building Two foundations poured and stripped. MEPs installing underground plumbing and electric. Building Three framing footings and foundation walls.
What are our current activities at Schiller Place?
Building One elevator core (CMU), Building Two underground MEPs, Building Three foundations.
What are the challenges?
Very tight site, very little room for lay down or equipment. Buildings are only 40’ wide so everyone on-site are in very close proximity to each other. Also, unapproved utilities still waiting for permits so we are only able to proceed with what’s approved and wait for the other work. Not for all three of the buildings, but some of the Perm Power/ Perm Water / Perm Gas are still not fully approved yet for one building or another.
What are we doing really well?
Maintaining a clean and safe site while keeping the streets clean in a busy area. Keeping the noise down with adjacent neighbors and keeping the peace. Helping the owner and design team coordinate the unapproved utilities - performing like this is a design build project.
metra 10th floor renovation
Where are we in the schedule?
Currently installing ceiling grid, tile, trimming out fixtures and aluminum frames. Flooring to begin within the next 2 weeks. Our substantial completion is the end of May.
What are the challenges?
The challenges were receiving the custom wood and metal ceiling material in less than 14 weeks. The furniture was also a challenge finalizing every detail to order the required pieces... legs, arms, chairs, desk surfaces, etc. We've overcome both obstacles and the project is moving forward.
What are we doing really well?
GMA is working well as a team and with our subcontractor to remain on course.
j. erik jonsson central library renovations
Where are we in the schedule?
We are on the home stretch now with finishes.
What are our current activities at the Jonsson Central Library?
Currently, we are about 90%+ on flooring, walls are one coated, storefront is in and doors are being installed. We are shooting to have all overhead inspections finished within the next few weeks, and start closing the ceiling. By the beginning of April, we should be painted out, VWC done, flooring done, lighting done and ceiling tiles being dropped in.
What are the challenges?
Main challenge has been working with an existing 40 year old, obsolete ceiling grid. Getting our lighting package to fit took some serious thought.
